Welcome to Threecross Agility GroupThis club was set up in 2010 by Heather GIbson and Carol Hoare as we wanted somewhere to train our own dogs and decided to start our own club. We were very fortunate to be offered the use of a paddock by our vet Vaughn Stoman of Alderholt and Three Cross Vets. We started off with a few friends and now have approximately 50 members with a waiting list for this years classes. The club is aimed mainly at pet dog owners wanting to enjoy an activity with their dogs. However, we do have some members who take it more seriously and like to compete at agility shows throughout the show season. This can take us to many places all around the United Kingdom. I, myself, have competed in Scotland and Northern Ireland and quite a few of us go to a week long show every August in Suffolk. For those more serious agility people we try to bring in more experienced trainers occasionally to give us new ideas and keep us on our toes!We have held a couple of small 'fun' shows at our field and everyone has enjoyed ourselves. We often get asked by people from other clubs if we will hold some more and hopefully we will. We have also run the agilityshow at the Dorset Charity Horse and Dog Show.Agility can be a very physical activity therefore it is essential, to avoid unnecessary injury, that the dogs are fit and not over weight. Owners should also be aware that they will have to run! Before joining the club I would ask you to check with your vet that your dog is fit enough to do agility.Dogs must have good temperaments and reasonable obedience i.e they should be able to sit and wait, come when called and not run off to see the other dogs (allowances can be made for young dogs).Beginners do a pre-agility course where they learn how to use the equipment safely but don't do high jumps. This means that we can take pups from about 6 months old and prepare them for when they are old enough for 'proper' agility.Heather GibsonFor further information please contact me eitherby email (preferred)email@example.com by phone 07786153965
